Motor vehicle accidents: Tennessee car chase ends in injuries

On Behalf of | May 7, 2018 | motor vehicle accidents

A 19-year-old man is facing several charges in connection with a recent car chase that sent passengers to the hospital with several major  injuries. In this — one of many motor vehicle accidents on Tennessee roads — the accused, and driver of the vehicle, was injured along with his two passengers. Police say the suspect was already wanted on felony charges. In this case, he allegedly drove through a traffic stop set up by the authorities after they spotted him.

A police report indicates the teen was speeding and ultimately crashed the vehicle into a hydro pole. The three occupants were taken to the hospital for treatment. Police say they suffered serious injuries, and the authorities are continuing their investigation. They say the man will be charged with multiple offenses.

Reckless driving is a criminal offense in Tennessee. Those who don’t defend the charges may have their lives changed significantly if they are found guilty. They could face jail time. A lawyer may be able to determine the most effective way to resolve such cases. Motor vehicle accidents have many causes and a lawyer may be able to come up with a pertinent defense for each client’s unique case.

If people are charged because they allegedly caused motor vehicle accidents, they may lose their licenses. In addition, if they have been convicted for similar infractions in the past, the Tennessee Motor Vehicle Habitual Offenders Act paves the way to have any sentence multiplied for three or more convictions for some offenses, like reckless driving and vehicular assault. An attorney’s prudent guidance and advice may make the difference between potentially paying a fine and possible jail time.
